Tours and Field Trips

Ruthmere offers numerous opportunties for educators to expand and enhance their teaching of history through tours and special educational events at Ruthmere and at other historic sites in our county. We are currently working with the Elkhart County Parks and the county historical society to develop programs that will provide your students with a more immersive historical experience.

Educator's Kit

We've developed a set of materials for teachers to use in the classroom as part of their local history curriculum. The PowerPoint presentation "Exploring Elkhart's Roots with Ruthmere" is also ideal as a preview presentation for classes planning a visit to Ruthmere. The complete kit includes the presentation, presenters guide and a copy of the Indiana State Standards for third grade social studies, to help in lesson planning.
